File Preparation

FILE TYPES

We accept Auto CAD files (.dwg) and Adobe Illustrator files (.ai). Please contact us at info@bbiitt.com if you require assistance converting your files from other programs into these file types.

PREPARING YOUR AUTO CAD FILES

1. In model space, set the contents of your drawing to be cut or etched within an 18” x 32” bounding rectangle. Offset the bounding rectangle 1/4” for tolerance. Please make sure your bounding box and offset are set to a “no print” or “defpoints” layer. Repeat.

2. Set your line weights to the appropriate index color
vector cut………. color index #1 (red)
vector etch…….. color index #5 (blue)
raster fill…………color index #7 (black)

3. Save your file with your last name, first name and date:
e.g.: RodriguezAgustina_041109.

PREPARING YOUR ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR FILES

1. Select File > Create New > Basic RGB Document.

2. Set Units to inches.

3. Set the Height to 18” and the Width to 36”.

4. Set the Color Mode to RGB.

5. Change the weight of your stroke to 0.001”.

6. Edit your swatch palette:
Main Menu > Window > Swatches > Left Click OK
Delete all swatches that are not basic RGB: white, black, red, yellow, green, cyan, blue and purple

IMPORTANT: Please make sure that you have removed any double lines by selecting your file and running the overkill command if in AUTO CAD.

IMPORTANT: Please make sure that all line details are spaced a minimum of 1/16” apart. Any line details closer than 1/16” will be lost.
